Wayfinding, Branding & Accessible Design
Crotched Mountain – located in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire – is a national leader in the education and rehabilitation of children and young adults suffering from a wide range of physical, neurological and medical disabilities. At the beginning, Gamble Design created a new graphic identity and brand standards for print, promotional and web use before developing an innovative system of exterior and interior environmental graphics.
A unique symbol system – with each zone differentiated by color, tactility and shape – guides young patients and students through a mountaintop complex where standard ADA tactile guidelines are inadequate. Working with the project team, a primary goal was to create a visually engaging yet highly functional information system that embraced the “lodge” aesthetic of the architecture.
